Ordis Starter Deck

Altered is a race, getting your companion and hero tokens together faster than your opponent is the main win condition. The Ordis generate a lot of Token Characters to help you on the way.

The hero of the Ordis starter deck, Sigismar & Wingspan, creates one Ordis Recruit token character in your Hero Expedition every turn at Noon. That often means you have a character in an expedition before your opponent has had the chance to play anything and, better yet, that character didn’t cost you anything. A significant number of the other cards in the starter deck also create Ordis Recruits in one or both of your expeditions, giving you an extra advantage over your opponent who only gets to play one character in the same time you might play one and get another token character into your expeditions!

Ordis’ starter deck is also a good deck to learn how to play permanents efficiently, with both a Token Character creating permanent and a boost-giving permanent being part of the deck. Ordis’ characters are well balanced, bringing value to at least 2 of the 3 region types with every character in the starter deck, most even bringing value to all 3. Ordis will bring you victory not just by outrunning your opponent, but often overrunning them.

Tips how to play

Don’t be afraid to “skip” a day’s expeditions in order to get a permanent out. The benefit in later days will make you catch up to, and overtake, your opponent easily.

Token Characters are Characters too, cards mentioning characters also affect Token Characters, and with this deck, that gives you an advantage over any opponent.

The order in which you play cards can make a big difference, don’t play Kakoba, Legion Commander if you don’t have 3 characters out and plan to play another character after him.

The Monolith, Ordis Bastion, despite its cost of 5, is a game winner. Having every single character (including tokens) that joins your expedition receive a boost is a huge advantage.

Keep in mind your hero only provides room for 2 permanents and you will have to discard extra permanents that are in play at the end of the day (aka turn). Once you have two landmarks out, turning extra copies as mana is a fair tactic to use. Be mindful of opponent decks that can discard your permanents though!

Remember that you can play non-fleeting spells twice in one turn, providing you have the mana to pay for them, once from your hand and again from your reserve.
