Launch event

Equinox wants to celebrate Altered finally making its way into the hands of the community with Beyond the Gates. There will be worldwide Launch Event! These will take place on the weekend Altered releases, September 13, 14, and 15!

In the first season there will be no specific pre-release kit. Equinox has stated that they are willing to first experiment on the formats and players wishes before they finalize the perfect pre-release kit.

Retailers can host a Launch Event in two different recommended formats, both deck constructions use Sealed Deck rules.

Recommended formats:

  • You receive 1 Starter Deck + 3 Retail Booster Packs. Open your Starter Deck and improve it with the addition of the 3 packs to create a new deck. This is a more beginner friendly experience.
  • You receive 7 Retail Booster Packs and play the Sealed deck format. This variant offers a very fun experience for players that have already played Altered at least for a dozen games. Create your deck from scratch with a subset of the cards from your boosters. Note that for this variant the Adventure Cards need to be brought by the players or need to made available by the store.

It is also recommended that both formats use 4 round, best-of-one with a 30 minute deckbuilding time limit and a 30 minute round limit.

Rewards and Adventure Pass

At the Altered Launch Event weekend it will be the first time you can earn Promo Boosters and embark on the Adventure Pass, so reach out to your LGS and ask them to plan a Launch Event! Prices for this event may vary per LGS.

Tips & Tricks

The starter deck makes it easy to have enough playable cards in one color, but you can choose to play up to three. So for example: you get the Bravos deck, you can play additional with Muna and Ordis. This way you can make different powerful combinations with cards normally not in your card pool while playing constructed.

At the Launch Event format you can choose to play with a hero in one of your chosen colors. Or choose no hero at all. Notice that your hero counts towards you deck size, so you can play a deck with 39 cards and a hero or 40 cards without. When playing with a starter deck, you can use a hero pulled from your packs. So you can choose a different hero of your starter deck faction or even choose a hero of your additional added factions. For example: You play Bravos deck, with Muna and Ordis, you can choose your pulled Rin or Waru!

There are no restrictions on the number of rare or unique cards you can play in your deck. Normally a rare is a slightly better version of the common, so running more is usual the way to go. With this, it is possible to include more than 15 rares or more than 3 uniques.
