Competitive play snapshot: Afanas leads for March
While Sigismar showed up in more competitive matches in March than any other hero, Afanas won more victories for the month, according to stats from 39cards.com. The month’s wins, across 22 online and two in-person events, were distributed over five heroes including Fen and Teija. Kojo picked up his (and Bravos’s) first win for the season.
This monthly snapshot is an effort to give players a high-level view of the trends going on in competitive play across the season, developed from stats and decklists from 39cards.com. These are unofficial details based on results reported to 39cards.com, and may not accurately reflect official standings reported to Equinox. These statistics, which include mainly online and some in-person events, only represent competitive play and shouldn’t be taken to inform trends for other modes of play. While some stats are shared directly, others are intentionally vague. These notes are meant to provide context around competitive recaps as well as spark ideas for new approaches and deckbuilding.
Hero distribution
March hero distribution
- Sigismar =
- Teija ↗
- Afanas ↘
- Fen ↗
- Kojo ↘
- Basira ↗
- Lindiwe ↗
- Sierra ↘
March saw Sigismar continuing to run with the largest number of decks as he did in February, but several of the other heroes traded significant ground. Teija took second place away from Afanas, who dropped into third. Fen swapped with Kojo for fourth and fifth, respectively. The biggest upset in the top eight heroes is that Akesha fell fully off the list to make room for Basira climbing into sixth. Lindiwe also made way for herself in seventh, pushing past Sierra, who dropped to eighth.

Competitive hero distribution for March 2025
Tracking from the start of the season, Sigismar has continued to hold the lead, with Teija narrowly leading Afanas by less than one percent difference for second and third, respectively. Fen and Kojo have a similar rivalry with just over one percent difference between fourth and fifth. Basira holds sixth place and Sierra holds slightly higher than her month’s standings in seventh. Lindiwe takes eighth place.
Top cards
These card rankings are determined by total number of instances of a card across all top-eight decks for a faction, as opposed to the percentage of top-eight decks that include a particular card.
Axiom
Common
- Frozen Delivery =
- Foundry Mechanic =
- Gibil ↗
Rare
- The Ouroboros, Lyra Bastion =
- Brassbug Hive ↗
- Foundry Armorer ↗
Frozen Delivery and Foundry Mechanic retain their places from February, but Gibil climbed over both Kelon Elemental and Kelon Burst to take third for March. Sierra continues to look for help in commons to keep the machines activated without having to spend additional mana.
The Ouroboros continues to lead the way among rares as the best opportunity to find needed cards like the Brassbug Hive, which moved into second from third this month, overtaking Axiom Salvager. Possibly related, Foundry Armorer moves into third, as it synergizes with Hive and provides versatility on play.
Bravos
Common
- Haven Seiringar =
- Fire Rabbit =
- Chiron ↗
Rare
- Tiny Jinn ↗
- Haven, Bravos Bastion ↘
- Mighty Jinn =
Haven Seiringar and Fire Rabbit at the top of the charts continue to provide some of what Bravos tends to need most: card draw and a way to kick off boosts. Chiron moves up into third over Haven Bouncer, possibly as Basira has gained slightly more representation.
The top three rares are the same this month, but in a different order. Tiny Jinn moved into first from second, swapping with Haven. Mighty Jinn continues its hold on third, providing potential mana plus more desperately needed card advantage.
Lyra
Common
- Hathor =
- Anansi ↗
- Martengale ↘
Rare
- Ouroboros Inkcaster =
- Magical Training =
- Aloe Vera =
Hathor stays at the top of Lyra’s commons, helping them in their effort to maintain card advantage. Anansi moved up into second from fifth this month, possibly as Fen picked up more representation. Martengale moved to third from second, another versatile card that can lower cost or score an unguarded expedition.
The top three rares for Lyra are unchanged from February, all providing additional ways to keep cards in play longer and add more options to the field while encouraging the opponent to spend more mana before you make your move.
Muna
Common
- Floral Tent =
- Muna Druid ↗
- Dracaena ↘
Rare
- Aloe Vera =
- Ogun ↗
- Spindle Harvesters ↘
Floral Tent maintains its place at the top of Muna commons for the month, providing a little defense alongside a similarly-costed Harvest. Muna Druid moved up to second place from third, and Dracaena took that position. Teija especially enjoys a character that self-anchors, so she can focus on building stats and getting a Spindle into play.
Aloe Vera fills that role with a little extra mana, and provides card advantage on top of that. Ogun and Spindle Harvesters switched places from their February standings.
Ordis
Common
- Teamwork Training =
- Monolith Legate ↗
- Ordis Spy ↘
Rare
- Baba Yaga =
- Ordis Attorney =
- Ordis Trooper ↗
Teamwork Training, which remains at the top of the Ordis commons for March, provides some of the most powerful removal in the game, especially for heroes like Sigismar who can improve its reach quickly. Monolith Legate and Ordis Spy swapped places for the month.
Baba Yaga and Ordis Attorney continue to be the top rares for the faction, both of which provide fast, cheap card advantage (and both of which are on the current watchlist). Ordis Trooper climbed over Foundry Mechanic to take third this month.
Yzmir
Common
- Off You Go =
- Studious Disciple =
- Tooth Fairy =
Rare
- Helping Hand =
- Baba Yaga =
- Kadigiran Mage-Dancer ↗
Yzmir’s top commons remained fully the same from February, covering removal and low-cost stats to build around for Afanas.
Helping Hand and Baba Yaga also retain their places from February among Yzmir’s top rares. Kadigiran Mage-Dancer (also on the watchlist) swapped places with Beauty Sleep to take third place.
Hero standings
While Sigismar might’ve made up 20% of all players pushing for the top spot, Afanas took the most first-place wins in March. At rank one beyond Afanas, Fen tied with Sigismar for second and third, followed by a handful of wins by Teija. Kojo picked up one victory, bringing the spread of first-places to five different heroes for the month.

Total competitive first-place wins by hero for March 2025
For the Yzmir lead, that’s a change from February, where Sigismar and Afanas shared the most first-place wins overall. Fen improved her standing slightly while Teija lagged a little behind. Lindiwe lost her February position to Kojo altogether.
Even though Sigismar lost to Afanas for the most firsts, it wasn’t for lack of trying. Sigismar was the most common hero to show up in second, third, fourth and fifth places for the month (though he tied with Kojo for third-place rankings).
Season-to-date first-place victories by hero
- Afanas ↗
