As the first of three phases, World Championship Qualifiers will start in June, with the earliest currently scheduled event being the upcoming Dutch Altered Championship happening June 28 in Zoetermeer. Qualifers will continue throughout the summer with competitions across North and South America, Europe and Asia. Three online qualifiers across three different time zones will be hosted on Board Game Arena. A list of qualifier events can be found in the original article. though it only lists 23 of the 24 total qualifier positions, according to Cédric Leblanc, organized play director, in the official Discord server. More information will likely be incoming.

After the initial qualifiers, a Last Chance Qualifier will be held in France in Autumn 2025 during the same event as the World Championships themselves, adding another eight players to the 24 chosen by the previous rounds.

The next day, the World Championship Finals will be held as part of a community celebration of the game’s first year and the culmination of the first competitive season. Altered’s first World Champion will be crowned at that event. All travel and accommodation costs will be provided for those reaching the World Championship Finals. The event’s specific date has not yet been shared.

Prizing also includes “faction favorite” cards from BTG and Hero Boosters with full-art, foiled hero cards.

A World Championship Qualifer top 8 foiled playmat is among the exclusive prizes for the event, featuring Hestia’s art from the WFM set. There are also 2025 World Championship Hero Booster packs that will go to every participant, according to Cédric, which will contain a full-art, foiled hero card, signed by the artist. In an update to the Faction Scout cards from the TBF Tumult Championships, foiled “faction favorite” cards from the BTG set will be part of the competition rewards as well. Similar to the Adventure Pack rewards from the Tumult Championships, Adventure Packs featuring the BTG locations will be among the prizes as well. Specific rewards will vary depending on the competition and partners.

Along with the event, the game’s official Judge Program is being developed. The Equinox team is working with the judge community to find fair prizing for those involved, and more information will be coming. The team will also be reviewing the comprehensive rules, policies and tournament guidelines to make them more user-friendly and supportive of a healthy competitive circuit.

Partners who are involved in qualifiers are also encouraged to connect with the team directly with any plans to broadcast and share the events overall.

The World Championship event has been an ongoing request from the game’s community since its launch, so much so that it’s been included as a topic among the earliest AMAs with the Equinox team.
