Sigismar wins CDA Championship Week 3
AJT’s TeteDeTotem partnered with Sigismar to win Week 3 of the CDA Championship, held June 2 on Board Game Arena. Nereid worked with Kojo to take second in the 73-player event, and ATP’s Tenkii (Lindiwe) and Aurore Boreale 44 (Teija) split third and fourth.
The event, created by the Italian Altered team CDA, ran across seven rounds of single-elimination, turn-based (as opposed to real-time) play.
According to 39cards.com, Kojo and Sigismar split the honor of having the most decklists for the event at 11 each. Teija, Fen and Afanas all pulled eight each, followed by another split of Basira, Lindiwe and Auraq for four. Only Arjun and Nevenka saw no representation among the heroes. Of the cards that reached the tables, 73% came from BTG, with 22% from TBF and 5% from WFM.
TeteDeTotem’s Sigismar deck leans almost fully into BTG, focusing on what the Ordis hero does best while keeping card advantage on its side. The deck runs two rare Ordis Troopers and full rare sets of Foundry Mechanic and Amelia Earhart, all of which play from reserve for one mana. It also runs a full count of Ordis Attorney (still waiting her time out on the watchlist after the Baba Yaga suspension) to provide potential draw plus stats. Two common Ozma also support that cause, and a full set of Issitoq will either slow down an aggressive opponent or add even more to card draw. Two Gift of Self (borrowed from Yzmir) keep cards coming even without Baba Yaga’s help. Completing the card advantage strategy are three uniques, all of which that resupply every single time a non-token character joins one of the expeditions. Those include an Ordis Trooper (2/2), a Paper Herald (1/2) and Ordis Cadets (2/2). All told, 33% of the deck’s cards can either draw or resupply additional cards on play, with only three of those being uniques. With that much draw and resupply, the deck runs lighter on its other options, trusting that the single counts of Jack Frost, Ordis Spy, Hypothermia, Tiny Jail or Sticky Note Seals will be available whenever they’re needed.
