Print-on-Demand slots evolve, now tied to thresholds
Scheduling changes are on the way for Print-on-Demand slots as the platform develops in open beta, with the next available print date closing Oct. 9, according to a new support article.
New scheduling process
Beginning after the October printing slot, on-demand printing will trigger each time a threshold of 2,500 packs is reached. Each order closing will then be set for 9 a.m. CEST (UTC+2) on the Thursday two weeks later: For example, if the threshold is reached on Tuesday, Nov. 4, the order close will happen Thursday, Nov. 13. Similar to the current practice, once an order is closed, order printing will begin the following Monday with express order shipping happening that Tuesday.
To give players a better understanding of when the next threshold will be reached, a counter will be set up on the Print-on-Demand order page for the number of ordered packs. After the 2,500-pack threshold, the upcoming closing date will be displayed on the order page. Up until that closing date, additional packs can be added to the order up to a maximum of 4,980. All packs ordered beyond that limit or after the order’s closing will be integrated into the next printing session.
Some printing slots could be affected by non-working dates for the factory, and will be automatically accounted for in the displayed date on the Print-on-Demand page.
The new scheduling process will begin after the Oct. 9 print date. The fixed-date print slots caused production issues while requiring Equinox team presence related to the variable volume of orders.
Print timelines and World Championship Finals
With the upcoming release of Skybound Odyssey and the World Championship, the next Print-on-Demand slot will close at 9 a.m. CEST October 9, printing Oct. 13 and express shipping Oct. 14. If a player in the World Championship Finals is expecting to print cards to use in that competition, the support page advises them to have the cards delivered as close as possible to the event’s location, Le White in Paris.
There are no expected changes in the proxy policy for the upcoming Qualifiers, Last Chance and Finals events, according to Cédric Leblanc, organized play director at Equinox. The Tournament Guidelines state that proxies are generally not permitted in competitive events unless publicly issued by the Tournament Head Judge or Tournament Organizer under specific circumstances, but leaves the decision ultimately up to the organizer.
Summer Print-on-Demand dates were shifted due to reduced printing capacity through Equinox’s partnership with Cartimundi.
