Equinox moves to direct distribution in Altered’s second year
Equinox will become an independent distributor of Altered beginning with Set 5, as the team makes the choice to separate with its initial partner, Asmodee. As the game completes its first year, the move will allow greater versatility and direct communication from Equinox with players and local game stores, according to a news post.
The split is made with the confidence and support of Asmodee, which will continue to support Altered through the release of Skybound Odyssey, with prereleases beginning Sept. 26.
Direct delivery
Starting with the next set, Altered will be distributed to players and LGSs through preorder campaigns on Gamefound. Offers will be tailored to both groups depending on preferences, and will allow a more efficient way of making sure players and stores have exactly the products they want. Players will be able to preorder products for each set directly, while stores will have access to special options to continue driving in-store traffic and local organized play. The direct option will also allow Equinox to respond and react more quickly to player needs.
A new set will continue to be released every four months. No sets will be reprinted once a campaign ends, and distribution will be done directly to both groups.
The new approach allows Equinox to work directly with LGSs without being bundled or mixed with other products, and the team has built a plan to address challenges around margins and payment terms. LGSs will also have access to exclusive products such as special packs and organized play kits to continue in-person gaming while supporting the online experience on Board Game Arena. All Gamegenic products published before Set 5 will also remain available at Asmodee.
