Hive Missions reward ambassador players for outreach

Hive Missions, an ambassador program to reward Altered players with free cards and Print-on-Demand credit for growing their local community, are open to the public, according to a news post. The platform is designed to bring new players into the game while keeping a focus on local game stores.

Joining the Hive

Players can register for Hive Missions through an online form, and follow up with a direct message and friend request on Discord with Intox34, Chief Marketing Officer Eric Dieulangard. The profile will be reviewed and accepted players will be invited to join a dedicated space on the official Discord server.

Accepted members will get some time during a short call from an Equinox team member to discuss the program, review ideas and provide training. If products are needed for a planned event beyond what a player is able to provide, they may be supplied.

Hive missions are meant to target new audiences, with a set of guidelines to help determine what’s eligible. They must be in-person events, and not part of a player’s paid job. They also have to be advertised (such as through social media or printed material) and offer some scale in outreach. The article gives the example of organizing a demo afternoon at a local store or boardgame bar with support and advertising, or running demos at a local convention with provided tables.

While players are asked to provide play materials to run at least a two-player experience, specific products could possibly be available, such as organized play materials.

Completing missions

Validating a Hive Mission requires proof such as a store announcement displaying the date of the demo or photos of the event in action. A debrief of the event must also be shared through another online form to help improve future planned events.

Starting with Season 4, each successful validated Hive Mission will bring a player one full faction’s Adventure Pass reward, credited at the end of the season. For every three validated missions, a player will receive 50 euros (about $58) in Print-on-Demand credit.

As the program opens to more players, it provides an additional tool for building a local community leading into the start of the Seeds of Unity Organized Play program next year.
