Altered at Essen Spiel 2025
SPIEL Essen is the world’s largest game fair and once again the Equinox team had a big presence there in Hall 1 as part of the asmodee stand to show off the wonders of the game to all and sundry as well as selling Skybound Odyssey boosters and the original starters at the asmodee store. Gaming at the booth went all during the entire four days of the fair from Thursday through to Sunday.
Alongside the Blog crew of Saphire (dressed as Teija), The Bravos Hatter, Gnomeschool and 4ndreas, the Equinox folks were also out in force with Pierre, Cédric and the magnificent creator of the foils, Queen Sweorkie, all manning the booth. There were plenty of events for players to participate in across 8 tables, including booster wars, boss battles and learn to play demos for those new to the game.
The Boss Battles were there in force, represented by Triny and Tlat and Sweokie and Flag with two sets of boss battles going on simultaneously (they are that popular!). Those that brought a challenge to the boss decks could win a variety of prizes, including if they rolled a 6 after winning against the boss, the coveted Lokinox special playmat.
One lucky challenger at the booth pulled off the ultimate win and the photo below shows their spoils.
Of course there was a special guest at the booth as well all weekend. Hank 2 finally managed to slip away from Lokinox and traveled to Germany alongside the Equinox crew. Sweorkie may have assisted his escape plan and he was in attendance all weekend. Hank 2 was very active all weekend, getting up to all sorts of mischief and making a load of new friends over the fair. To celebrate his attendance at the event, players were invited to draw their own Woollyback on a board. There were a variety of fun Woollyback drawings made over the entire event!
You too can get a Woollyback of your own. The Gamefound campaign, which is live now, will have the Woollyback plush as an add on. But beware, quantities are limited.
