Altered RoC Gamefound campaign breaks $200k in first hours
Altered’s Roots of Corruption Gamefound campaign reached more than 172,000 euros (about $200,000) with almost 700 backers within its first 12 hours, beginning March 10. The beginning goal of 50,000 euros (about $58,205) was reached within 18 minutes. The individual backer campaign ends March 20, after the retailer campaign ends March 16.
This is Altered’s second Gamefound campaign, with an overall goal of 2 million euros (about $2.3 million) combining individual and retailer pledges, according to an update post. Players can choose to preorder the RoC set directly from Equinox via the Gamefound or purchase from their local game store. Retailers have a separate set of preorder tiers which give them a wider range of options over individual buyers.
The RoC retailer campaign ends March 16, with the total investment from retailers to be made public March 18.
Pledges and bonuses
The pledge tiers include several options from the Seeds of Unity campaign, including the following:
- Discovery Pack – two RoC starter decks plus one booster each from Skybound Odyssey, Whispers from the Maze, Trial by Frost and Beyond the Gates
- Exploration Pack – one RoC display plus one box topper and one RoC collector booster
- Legacy Pack – one RoC display, a box topper, an RoC collector booster plus displays and boosters from the above earlier sets
- Expert Pack – three RoC displays plus three box toppers and three collector boosters
- Supreme Pack – six RoC displays plus six box toppers and six RoC collector boosters
Add-ons for the RoC campaign include the following:
- One RoC display
- One case of RoC displays
- Two starter decks, for Yzmir and Lyra
- Two collector boosters
A range of new accessories are also available, including a new playmat, sleeves and a limited number of Woolyback plushes.
The Gamefound offers an exclusive topper that is automatically added to an order for every 200 euros (about $232) spent. At launch, that topper could be a WFM or SKY full art, an RoC Evil Eye treatment or a full alt-art hero. Key stretch goals will improve the toppers included with each order.
At least four stretch goals are built into the RoC campaign from the start, with the first one revealed to be an improvement on the rates for Exalted cards, going from 1:20 to 1:16 when the campaign reaches 300,000 euros (about $349,000).
Shipping fees are refunded during the pledge manager phase (after the campaign ends) on orders of more than 549 euros (about $638). Multiple pledges will be shipped together. No add-ons or accessories can be chosen without backing a pledge.
The RoC set preview article shared three new heroes (for Bravos, Yzmir and Lyra) and new card types, including Feats and Corrupted versions of older cards. Special boosters return for RoC at a rate of 1:144, containing six rare cards, five unique cards and one Exalted.
The SDU campaign, which ended Nov. 14, 2025, totaled about 2.3 million euros (about $2.7 million). While that total fell short of the initial 2.5 million euros ($2.9 million) goal, the team was able to find operating efficiencies to make up the difference.
