Bravos and Muna lead the Whispers from the Maze Tumult Championships

Bravos and Muna are the winning eligible factions in the Whispers from the Maze Tumult Championships, earning the new Sofia, First Outpost, landmark permanent for both. The event, which ran from Aug. 15-Sept. 15, determined the fate of The Hunger in the depths of the City of Scholars.

Winning factions

Following from the new guidelines developed at the tournament’s announcement, the rewards went to the two best factions that hadn’t already won in this cycle. In this case, that meant that Ordis and Yzmir, while they could contribute to the plot community event, could not win after having come out on top of the Trial by Frost Tumults and adding Kuraokami to their factions. With 20.5% and 12.5% of the victories, respectively, Bravos and Muna led the competition.

Sofia, First Outpost, has joined Bravos in common and rare, and Muna in out-of-faction. The cards have been added to all Altered current and future accounts. It’s treated as a “token,” in that players will be able to add it to decks and Print-on-Demand orders as needed without having to search out additional copies. They cannot be traded or sold.

It’s important to note that because of the way Tumults are set up, with small, local competitions, these statistics don’t have a strong correlation to how the competitive meta is developing. While Ordis did once again pick up the most wins overall at more than twice the rate that Axiom did, in the August competitive snapshot, Treyst kept even pace with both Kojo and Sigismar for wins.

Compared to the TBF Tumults, Ordis’s lead was cut from 29.2% to 24.5% and Yzmir from 27.2% to 19.6%. Muna is the only other faction to stumble slightly, going from 12.9% to 12.5%. Bravos increased from 14% to 20.5% and Lyra went from 10.7% to 12.2%. Axiom, which took only 6.1% at TBF (partially still recovering with the reintroduction of Haven with its new errata from the TBF midseason patch) climbed to 10.8%. All factions achieved at least double digits this time around.

With the WFM Tumults completed and the set’s organized play season coming to a close, players are looking toward the last few World Championship Qualifiers and the upcoming Finals in Paris, France, Oct. 17-19.
