Exclusive: Additional May 21 AMA notes, errata, digital roadmap

Errata compensation plans and Marketplace/Print-on-Demand updates were among some topics that were brought up during the May 21 AMA stream, but weren’t the right fit for Game Designer Charles Wickham and Organized Play Director Cédric Leblanc.

After the event, Lokinox shared some additional exclusive responses from the team across these and other topics.

Errata compensation

While there is a plan for player compensation in regards to cards changed with an errata, it’s not ready to be shared yet publicly, according to the team. The next step is to handle its implementation. The hope is that communication will be ready to be shared in the coming weeks.

The compensation plan has been a part of the community discussion since the Robin Hood errata and has been acknowledged in every patch update since.

Digital roadmap update/priorities

A new roadmap is still on the way, according to the team. As the public beta phase of the Marketplace and Print-on-Demand platforms continues, it’s an ongoing period of finding and handling bugs. That requires a lot of flexibility and adaptation for the time being. A clear roadmap will be coming as soon as possible.

The top priority for the digital team is to increase the number of countries that can access both Marketplace and Print-on-Demand, according to the team. Aside from that, base necessities are the next most important, such as quality-of-life updates (improved filters) and modification of the transaction cap.

The results of a user survey that asked for ranked priority on additional updates has been helpful in determining projects, Cédric said in the May 21 AMA. That survey list included items such as Print-on-Demand updates that allow sharing orders with other players or through a local game store to reduce shipping costs.

Token cards such as Brassbugs, Booda or Dragon Shade will be able to be foiled and included in Print-on-Demand orders as soon as possible, according to the team.

The Marketplace and Print-on-Demand public beta phase opening in April mark two of the last few remaining entries on the previous roadmap, which was published last August. According to that roadmap, we’re in the “2025 & beyond” stage, with entries including increased services for shop owners, personal records, a tournament tool and general tool improvements.

Adventure Pass rewards

Initially, the alt art rewards for the Season 1 Adventure Pass provided a single copy of each rarity to the player. Community feedback on that topic came back strong, said Chief Marketing Officer Eric Dieulangard in the Feb. 19 AMA, and in a later AMA he shared that additional copies would be provided not only retroactively, but going forward.

These additional copies should be included in player collections by the end of the TBF season, which officially closes May 30, according to the team.

The WFM Adventure Pass changes up the reward options and pacing, leaving player profile badges behind for the time being and providing either a foiler or a copy of a player’s chosen faction alt art. With the new setup, a player can get at least one common, rare and out-of-faction copy of the alt art card within five levels, making it more accessible for those in areas without regular weekly events. The new season begins May 30 with the set’s prerelease.

While the TBF promo boosters included alt arts of one character for each faction, those arts were locked out of being used for uniques. Even though the official unique alt art is already created, there are no current plans to use them or in the near future, according to the team. They did not exclude a future opportunity, however.

Tumult Championships

The team is studying the results of the TBF Tumult Championships to determine how the system should evolve, according to the responses. But because every season is planned in advance, larger changes won’t happen instantly. Still, the team agrees that there is room for improvement with the Tumults.

The Tumults are already showing evidence of evolving, as the Scout Cards given in the TBF Tumult will be a playable version in the WFM Tumult, coming July 26-Sept. 7. In regards to the format, the team will keep what worked well in the previous event and make changes to what didn’t work as well, Cédric said in the May 21 AMA. The team will be using the results of the survey shared with players following the TBF Tumult to guide some of those adjustments.
