Gavken reports from Tumults in the UK
The UK has been celebrating the Tumult Championship over the past month and this weekend has a plethora of events for players to attend and vie for those coverted Champion playmats.
Meeples and Mulligans (Kimberley) – Saturday 3rd May
The turnout unfortunately at Meeples and Mulligans in Kimberley, Nottinghamshire was only 6 brave heroes. However, that didn’t dampen the spirit, and everyone had a great time there. As there were fewer than 8 people, they didn’t end up having a top cut, with just three rounds of Swiss, the player who got the 3-0 was Tumult Champion.
There were 2 Fens, 1 Sigismar, 1 Kojo, 1 Teija and 1 Lindiwe in attendance. One of the Fens won the event, going 3-0. Sigismar took second place going 2-1, and the other four went 1-2. This was an amazing extremely well-run event with very generous prizing.
The winning Fen deck had some very hot uniques!
D20 Board Game Café, Watford – Saturday 3rd May
This was another great UK event with a very Ordis meta. Indeed, so much so that the final was an all-Sigismar affair, with (surprise, surprise – a win for Sigismar).
Spellbound Games, London – Sunday 4th May
The Tumult at Spellbound Games in London this Sunday had a decent turnout of 12 brave heroes come to compete. There was 2 Fen, 1 Rin, 2 Afanas, 2 Kojo, 1 Atsadi, 1 Gulrang, 1 Sigismar and 1 Teiga. Alas, I don’t remember the last deck, but there were no Axiom decks present.
A very excellent Fen player went 5-0 and was a strong favourite to take the prize, however after overcoming a mirror match semi-final, he met up with the Sigismar player who took down the Afanas player who’d managed to top 4. Sadly, the Fen player didn’t draw a character for several rounds and ultimately this meant he was so far behind that he conceded the game before the end, giving the win to the Sigismar player.
It was a fun tournament with some great off meta decks in Rin, Atsadi and Gulrang making a show. And how did I do with my Kojo deck you might ask? Well, I did manage to win one game, and I came 12th. Yes, there were 12 players in the tournament, but someone has to hold everyone else up!
