Marketplace and Print-on-Demand go global
Marketplace and Print-on-Demand services are now available all around the world, building on a series of ongoing recent upgrades over the last few months, according to an official article. Both options started as a limited beta in April. With the update, they’re available in more than 110 countries worldwide, opening even more markets that can benefit from the current Seeds of Unity Gamefound campaign. Shipping costs also changed, typically giving better costs to larger orders.
Shipping details
Opening the services to locations around the world is a result of months of work by the Equinox team to build systems working with regulations, rates and duties across multiple countries. Because of that work, Print-on-Demand pricing may look different depending on a country’s taxes, custom fees and UPS service charges.
When finalizing the payment, the details now include a breakdown of each of the costs associated with the order. That includes those that that Equinox does have a hand in managing, such as the printing cost and shipping fees (which may even be waived depending on the number of packs ordered). It also shares fees that the team can’t control, such as local taxes, customs and service fees charged by UPS.
As shipping fees go, the rates for orders that contain 1-2 boosters may have increased, while orders with 3 or more may have decreased. Notes about the fees related to your delivery address will be included with the order details.
Ongoing updates
The update comes less than a month after the launch of Group Print-on-Demand, which allow players to gather their orders to reduce printing and shipping costs more effectively. The process is managed directly within an open order, allowing up to 15 packs to be created within a single order, bringing the cost-per-card down as well as the overall shipping.
The way that printing dates are set has also changed recently. Instead of managing smaller print runs about twice a month, printing slots are now reserved as soon as a threshold of 2,500 packs has been reached. Once the total crosses that number, the order closing is set for Thursday two weeks later. A counter has been added to the Print-on-Demand page to track the current pack tally. While waiting for a print date to close, more orders can be added up to a total of 4,950 packs. Any overflow will begin the next count.
The services can only be accessed through the Altered website, not the app, due to additional fees charged by Apple and Google related to in-app transactions. Both are still in beta, and constructive feedback is encouraged to be shared through the team’s ticket system.
