Ordis and Yzmir lead the Trial by Frost Tumult Championships
Ordis and Yzmir took the top two positions in the official results for the Trial by Frost Tumult Championships, which ran globally April 5-May 11. Kuraokami Unbound will join Ordis in common and rare, and join Yzmir out of faction.
Kuraokami Unbound in all three forms will be added by the end of the TBF season (May 30) to all Altered current and future accounts. It’s treated as a “token,” in that players will be able to add it to decks and Print-on-Demand orders (as the first rounds of printed cards in the new public beta phase land in mailboxes) as needed without having to search out additional copies. They cannot be sold or traded.
The only way the result was close was between the top two factions, as Ordis won 29.2% of all events, with Yzmir taking 27.2%. Both of those factions took about double of the total win percentage as third place, Bravos, at 14%. Muna followed closely at 12.9%, with Lyra at 10.7%. Axiom didn’t break double digits, at 6.1%. Each championship win at an event gained a point in favor of that deck’s faction.
Those results line up moderately closely to the online competitive season-to-date first-place victories totals from May, where Sigismar and Afanas tied for the top spot. In the most recent competitive play snapshot, Fen and Teija tied for second, with Kojo again taking third.
Though they landed a decisive win, fates may be changing slightly for Sigismar and Afanas as both suffered a major card in their decks being suspended in the Whispers from the Maze season patch, which dropped May 13. Sigismar lost access to Baba Yaga, and Afanas can no longer use Helping Hand. A rules clarification also dulled the impact of one of Afanas’s main tools, Small Step, Giant Leap. Check out our full list of cards currently with important errata or on the watchlist/under suspension.
The Tumult Championships for WFM will run July 26-Sept. 7. Those events will be running concurrently with the game’s first World Championship Qualifiers, which begin in June.
