Set 3 name and release date revealed
The name and release date of for Set 3 has been shared in a short announcement video posted to the Altered YouTube channel. Launching June 6, Whispers from the Maze will be the next challenge for the Expeditionary Corps following the recent Trial by Frost.
The short video provides just a couple clues for the upcoming set, including a tagline of “Some things are better left in the dark,” and what appears to be Minoan architecture surrounding a shadowy pit. Several of the heroes are in the foreground, with Basira/Kaizaimon, Waru/Mack and Lindwe/Maw all visible. Coming in from the right side of the screen is what could be a brassbug, but is at least what karifur refers to as “almost definitely some other kind of Axiom nonsense.” Regardless of what else is going on here, it feels like there’s good odds of running into a Minotaur here (though I might not call it concrete).
We don’t know a lot about the maze or potential monsters hiding within, but WFM isn’t a complete mystery to us. Here’s what we do know already:
- The set will be similar in size to TBF, which was made up of 90 cards across all six factions (which I’m reminded by 4ndreas is technically 91 with Kuraokami).
- There will be no new heroes in WFM, and no new art for current heroes. New heroes are on the way in Set 4.
- The release date of June 6 should put prerelease events around May 30, generally. But whenever it is, we’ll be seeing the “beta” version of the prerelease packs, upgraded from TBF.
- Following along with the milestones set in the recent update, a season patch is expected sometime in May in the lead-up to WFM.
