Sigismar takes the top spots in LTC Tournament in Strasbourg

AfreekanXpress, teamed up with Sigismar/Wingspan, took the crown at the Legendary Tournament Commander tournament in Strasbourg, France on Feb. 22. Lienk, also working with the Ordis paladin, took second place. Third place was shared by Droco (also Sigismar) and Pierre-Xavier (Afanas).

The event brought together 53 players competing over seven rounds of Swiss and a cut to Top 8. Prizes included up to 72 TBF boosters plus a promo pack for the top spot.

According to 39cards.com, Sigismar was heavily represented at the tournament with 13 entries across players overall, including both of the winning decks and a total of five in the top eight. Beyond him, Afanas was next most popular at nine decks, followed by Fen at seven.

None of the Fen decks were in the top 8 players, but Afanas and Kojo filled what spots weren’t taken by Sigismar there. Across the decklists, 78% of the cards that reached the tables were from BTG, with 22% representing TBF. For the winning two decks, only three cards total cost more than three mana (two copies of the Monolith and one Grand Endeavor in Lienk’s deck, which took second place). Expanding to the top four decks, only a four-cost Kadigiran Alchemist unique in Droco’s deck and three copies of Small Step, Giant Leap in Pierre-Xavier’s deck went past the three-cost line.

The event was streamed on the LTC Twitch channel.
