Sigismar wins first in Altered Italian League

Riccardo Pace teamed up with Sigismar to take first place in the 47-player Altered Italian League event organized by AndyCards in Ravenna, Italy, March 2. Vittorio Chiuselli (Afanas) and Alessandro Franco (Sigismar) took second and third place, respectively.

The event took place over seven rounds of Swiss play followed by a top eight cut switching to best-of-three.

According to 39cards.com, across the top eight decks, Sigismar led three, followed by Afanas with two. Teija, Kojo and Fen rounded out that group, though none cracked the top four places. Overall, Treyst, Waru and Nevenka were the only heroes to skip the event completely. Across the decklists, 78% of all cards came from BTG, with 22% showing up from TBF. In the two winning decks, a total of six cards cost more than three mana, including three Monoliths in Riccardo’s deck and two Banishing Gates and one Small Step, Giant Leap in Vittorio’s. In the top two decks, 24 cards cost one mana from hand; 16 of those are in Vittorio’s deck, which runs a total of 11 spells that cost a single mana, beyond the ones that cost more.
