Unique card search and deck legality check tools assist tournaments, deckbuilding
A new deck legality check tool launched and a unique card search platform has been updated this week, both made by community developers.
Deck Legality Check is a fan-made tool released by Pollux Troy that makes it easier for tournament organizers to validate decks quickly in a competitive setting. Using the Deck ID (found in the URL of the deck), the QR code or link, the platform generates the full decklist along with a quick ruling on the deck’s legality compared to the official rules.
It also allows users to view the cards’ details with images and effects, with the list format including card name, type, quantity and rarity. Uniques’ actions are included in the list for quick reference, and all cards have links back to the card details page. Checkboxes are included to easily validate the deck while comparing to the physical cards. It has a card-scanning module and keeps a deck history.
The tool was made with feedback from players, organizers and stores, said Pollux Troy.
Altered Scout, a unique card search tool made by Gil, has been updated with the ability to create an account. That allows users to save up to five searches so that they can be rerun easily as new cards come on the market. The platform has seen multiple changes in recent weeks, including an improved filter to detect uniques with statistics equal to 0, a list of all available triggers/conditions/effects and optimized search speed. It can search only for cards currently on sale in the Marketplace, with filters set around price, statistics, mana cost, set, subtype and effects. Cards found in the search can be clicked through directly to the listing on the Marketplace.
Altered has had ongoing support from third-party player developers since the game’s launch, including platforms such as 39cards.com and Altered TCG Builder. An official update from July launched the Developer Portal in beta, which allows community members to submit potential projects using access to the public API. The current APIs include card data, deck information and marketplace offers.
