Yzmir Starter Deck

Magic, mystique, the intangible if those words resonate with your heart and soul then Yzmir is the faction for you. The factions general play style is to stall and disrupt your opponent from forwarding in their race against the clock.

The hero Akesha & Taru helps you to achieve that game plan with her hero ability “After You” this ends your turn without playing a card. Normally after you pass your turn the game would move towards dusk but with “After you” this doesn’t happen. The main usage of this ability is to let your opponent make their plays and try to lure them into your counteroffensive of disruption and board control.

From the starter decks to me this one seems the most difficult to pick up and play if you’re a beginner in card games. But don’t let that discourage you to pick it up. Because the deck will teach you the beginner aspects of playing control, which if executed properly can steal you some games.

Tips how to play

Take a deep breath and analyze, try and make small plays that will inevitably end up tilting the game in your favor. This deck likes to take it slow and steady until you can bring out the big guns.

Try to combo off of Studious Disciple to make your disruption spells cost less to play them reactively against your opponent. Your hero paired with an Alice in the reserve you can force your opponent to tap out their mana orbs to then send their characters to the reserve via a Kraken’s Wrath or get rid of a character altogether with Banishing Gate.

To get rid of problem targets you can use Beauty Sleep to make target character gain Asleep. Once they’re asleep their stats won’t count at Dusk meaning you have more of a chance to go forward than your opponent.

Once you stalled the game long enough and reach seven mana orbs the big guns come out in the form of Sakarabru. This character forces the expedition facing it to move back one region which means you’re delaying your opponent even further from advancing in the game. All the while you’re advancing your game.

Remember that you can play non-fleeting spells twice in one turn, providing you have the mana to pay for them, once from your hand and again from your reserve.
