The Bravos Hatter

Marc – The Bravos Hatter.

Bravos enthousiast and mad like a Hatter. I love playing TCG’s, but foremost I love meeting new people. When I saw Altered I was instantly hooked by the divine art and refreshing game style. To connect with people I started the Dutch community Discord server and via this content hub I will try to bring fun and inspiring Altered related content.

The beginning

It’s cold, even snowy in the beginning of januari. Something we experience less and less here in the Netherlands. I’m moving with my family to a different town. Driving a few times up and back with some of our stuff, I come across the Fleeting Thoughts podcast by Maindeck, a podcast about Altered TCG. I got captivated by this game. I searched online for more content about this game.

The first thing I noticed was the beautiful art. This alone would make me play this game. While writing, I look at the promo cards I have and find the art on them even more divine then the online versions. Secondly the playstyle: you are racing to get your hero and companion tokens together. But instead on focusing heavily on combat, you are focusing on getting region types as high as possible. Lastly the new innovative ways of Altered are very exciting: Like to scan your cards to your account, get access to a easy-to-sell-marketplace, printing your cards on demand. Note: some of these features are not available yet, but will come in the near future.

Then I found out about the rarity system of the game. Common, Rare and Unique. First the Common/Rare combination of cards is something I think is very thoughtful. Days are over were you couldn’t find your playset of hard to get cards or pay way more you would actually like. Each card has a common version and a little better rare version. If you can’t find the playset of rares, you can use the common and miss out only a little, instead of the complete card effect. Take this one for example: Ratatoskr common version and Ratatoskr rare version.

Although the difference is small there, we have two more options for Ratatoskr. The out of faction variant, where you can play this card with it’s abilities into another faction. And the unique version. This mechanic of having a unique version of a card only you have an no one else, seems very interesting to me. I wonder how this will play out when the game gets official released in september and I get to meet people with same decks but different uniques!

The now

As the Kickstarter booster boxes become increasingly available and more and more people are aware of the game, I see people have a lot of questions, including myself. As with most new games, finding the right information is not always easy to find or accessible yet. I joined Nebby_0 to write about a hobby I love and hoping I can bring answers to the most commonly asked questions. If you have a question you think we should write about let us know via Discord or in the comments!

I choose the name The Bravos Hatter, because my main faction will be Bravos and I love the art for the unique The Hatter card.
